I know, I know. The thought of spending thousands of hard earned dollars on one day is terrifying. And can easily kill the buzz you were on from just getting engaged. If you’re like me and hadn’t even begun to think about saving for your wedding day, this post is for you. I’m going to show you how to save every penny you need with this wedding budget calculation so you’re able to have the wedding you’ve been dreaming of!
Okay. First off, choose your total overall budget. This is just a guess at this point. It will likely change, but don’t worry! It’s just a starting point.
Good. Now that we got that out of the way, figure out how many weeks you have until your wedding day. If you don’t have a date set yet, choose an approximate date. Also it’s always good to subtract 4 weeks from that date since some of your vendors may require the remaining balance be paid 1 month before your wedding day.
Now for the math. To figure out how much to stash away each week, just divide your total estimated budget by the number of weeks until your wedding. So if your budget is $15,000 and your wedding is 70 weeks away ($15,000/70) that’s about $215 dollars a week to stash away.
Don’t freak out if it’s more than you were thinking. At least you know ahead of time that you either need to lessen your budget or ask your family for help. There’s always a way to make it work. This easy wedding budget calculation is sometimes overlooked, but is so helpful in getting started on the right foot.
I think this little wedding budget calculation honestly kept us sane during all of the wedding planning and even through the every other week of saying “let’s just elope.” Hahah, we’ve all been there, right?? I hope this helps you too! 🙂
